My family had a great time at this newly opened beach resort- hotel. (It only opened In March, 2014.)      We left QC at past 8am, passed through SCTEX and TPLEX, had a late lunch in Urdaneta, arrived at the hotel at past 2pm.We booked ahead, we were given welcome drinks by the staff and were led to our poolside rooms. We booked three adjacent rooms.
My six-year old niece was excited when she saw the blue waters of the pool.No one was swimming that hot summer afternoon but we asked her to wait until the temp cooled down a bit.We quickly settled in to our well-appointed room, which consisted of two double beds, and an en suite toilet & bath. The aircon used had a cooling capacity more than the required square footage of the room.It had cable tv, the unit was a 30 inch Philips. The bathroom had Italian and German fixtures, rainshower head, easy to use centralized water heater and a wall- mounted hair dryer. It also had stainless steel tower hooks and racks, the towels were thick and fluffy, which were custom-made ( they had tags that read "awesome hotel,") shampoo & lotion, toothbrush & toothpaste sets sat on a wicker basket on the bathroom ledge. The only bummer was the shower area had no divider so the floor in the toilet area ended up getting wet.But they were clean and kept clean by the efficient staff during our 3 day-2 nights stay there.
The hotel's beach front had a manicured bermuda grass lawn, where three bahay kubo cottages  were situated. There ' s a surfing school where one can also rent surfboards.
There is a restaurant in the next door Final Option Beach Resort, which is
is managed and owned by the same German Expat who owns Awesome Hotel.
The food here is okay, tastes home-cooked, priced reasonably, but service is slow. We had to do several follow up requests to remind them of our order.
We heard mass at the nearby San Juan Cathedral, a centuries old church where one can have nice pictures taken in front of the brick church and monastery.
We visited relatives in Luna, La Union, where we stopped at the Old Baluarte near the shore, a crumbling structure built in Spanish times that was used to warn the townspeople against pirates or intruders. This town  is also where the Shrine of the Our Lady of Namacpacan is located.
Luna stones, decorative smooth rocks  are gathered by residents and sold  by truckloads to construction material suppliers here and abroad.Too bad the shoreline has been hugely depleted of this irreplaceable natural resource. When we were kids and had summer vacations here, the beach had layers and layers of these smooth stones but now it looks gouged out and some had bare areas that only had sand in it.
We went back to Awesome Hotel where we frolicked in its sandy shoreline and got tumbled by the waves. The wind was too gentle to create surfing waves so my siblings who wanted to surf had to go to nearby Urbiztondo, but sadly, there were no waves there as well. They had to leave early in the morning since one had to catch another flight, but before we left, the wind picked up and we saw some surfers enjoying the waves.
Better luck next time to my brothers, but my niece and I had an awesome time at the bubbling pool and beach this part of  San Juan.
